Meet Fabian van Beveren
Fabian van Beveren
I will be working on defining the minimal gene complement of a synthetic organism, where we are inspired by genome reduction occurring in nature.
My name is Fabian van Beveren, and I’m a postdoctoral researcher in microbiology at Wageningen University. My focus has always been on the evolution of symbiotic associations from a genomic perspective. Previously I worked on the origin of plastids through endosymbiosis in different kinds of algae, and on symbiotic associations between land plants and different bacteria and fungi. In EVOLF, I will be working on defining the minimal gene complement of a synthetic organism, where we are inspired by genome reduction occurring in nature - often due to symbiosis. This work will be done under the supervision of Thijs Ettema and Jolien van Hooff.
